KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 (Bernama) -- The date of the launch of the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2023 that has been brought forward to this Saturday is aimed to allow relevant parties to better prepare for National Day on Aug 31 and Malaysia Day on Sept 16.

Information Department (JaPEN) Corporate Communications and Media Division director Datuk E. Sivabalan said the celebrations involve many parties, including private companies, government-linked companes and collaborations with associations and non-governmental organisations.

“The launch date has been brought forward compared to 2022 with the intention that preparations in every state can be planned and executed earlier,” he said as a guest on TV1’s Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme today.

The launch will be held simultaneously at 1Borneo Hypermall, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; Mydin Petrajaya in Kuching, Sarawak; and Esplanade, KLCC Park here at 11.20 am, with HKHM 2023 Main Committee chairman, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil officiating it.

In Sarawak, Minister responsible for Sarawak-level Malaysia Day 2023 celebrations, state Deputy Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi will preside over the launch, while in Sabah, it will be officiated by Sabah state HKHM 2023 Main Committee chairman, Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

Sivabalan said the launch will be broadcast live on TV1 and he invited Malaysians to join in the celebrations by participating in a flashmob featuring the Malaysia MADANI song.
