MELAKA TO HOLD UNITY WEEK 2023 CELEBRATION ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY

MELAKA, May 24 (Bernama) -- The 2023 Melaka-level Unity Week celebration will be held at Dataran Orang Kampung in Merlimau, Jasin on Friday and Saturday.

State Health, Human Resource and Unity Committee chairman Ngwe Hee Sem said a total of 17 main activities will be held during the two-day programme. These activities include Jualan Rahmah, Sarapan Rahmah, Senaman Keluarga MADANI, Dialog Perpaduan: Membangun Malaysia MADANI, Eksplorasi Rukun Negara and Unity Night Fun Run.

He said as many as 3,000 visitors of various races and ages are expected to visit the celebration, themed 'Unity in Diversity'.

"Programmes or activities planned for the two days will begin at 7 am, and I hope that the people around Melaka, especially in Merlimau, can visit the Melaka-level Unity Week 2023.

"This time, the celebration will be held in rural areas to promote the concept of unity in diversity which will strengthen the bonds of unity among residents in the rural areas," he said at a press conference, here today.

Also present at the press conference was National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) Department, Intan Suhana Yusuff.

Elaborating further, Ngwe said currently the JPNIN has received about 500 applications for the three-kilometre Unity Night Fun Run to be held on Saturday beginning at 8.30 pm.

The Unity Week celebration, held yearly in May, aims to fuel the spirit of unity as well as spread knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the diversity of customs and cultures among the multi-racial community in the country.
