KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 (Bernama) -- ‘Malaysia MADANI: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan’ has been chosen as the theme of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 (HKHM) celebration.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said this theme is in line with the government’s determination and commitment to develop the country with the people being united, possessing a high spirit of unity, and living in peace and prosperity.

According to him, it is also supported by the concept of Malaysia MADANI as the master key inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to ensure that the people enjoy all forms of progress and modernity based on the sustainability of culture, creativity, confidence, well-being, mutual respect and compassion.

"The selection of this theme is the result of strategic collaboration and deliberation of a panel of 16 experts from various fields, including academics, cultural personalities, media practitioners, youth organisations, non-governmental organisations, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, youth icons and social media influencers.

"In line with this aspiration, I am glad to announce that the Malaysia MADANI logo has also been selected as the official logo for HKHM 2023 celebration," he said when launching the HKHM 2023 logo and theme at the Esplanade, KLCC Park here today.

Also present were his deputy Teo Nie Ching, Communications and Digital Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, Information Department director-general Datuk Mohd Sukari Abdul Hamid and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Roslan Ariffin.

Fahmi, who is also HKHM 2023 Main Committee chairman, said the logo featured a raised hand symbolising the Rukun Negara pledge and the primary colours of the Jalur Gemilang reflecting the identity and patriotic spirit of Malaysians.

In conjunction with the launch, Fahmi called on all parties to use, display and share the HKHM logo and theme on all platforms to show their love for the country and help promote the meaning of this year's HKHM celebration.

“All government agencies as well as private sector partners and non-governmental organisations are also encouraged to collectively express their love for the country by organising programmes in conjunction with HKHM 2023 at their respective organisational and community levels," he said.

Fahmi said three main activities will be held during the National Month and Malaysia Day, namely the launch of National Month and fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign on July 15 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout in Ipoh, Perak, followed by the National Day celebration on Aug 31 in Putrajaya and the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16 in Kuching, Sarawak.
